Volcanic Ash Crisis
On September 7, 2010 the Division of Airports and Air Traffic Safety hosted the Volcanic Ash Crisis 2010 - Seminar. The seminar covered the effects of the 2010 volcanic eruption of Eyjafjallajokull in Iceland on air traffic from the perspective of airlines, air navigation service providers, aviation meteorologists, EUROCONTROL/CFMU. The seminar was intended for professionals from airlines, air navigation service providers, airports, civil aviation authorities, meteorological offices, international organizations, as well as for academic staff and students having an interest in aviation. Based on the discussionconclusions on potential research themes are proposed. The event was attended by more than hundred participants from sixteencountries, ranging from airlines, air navigation service providers, airports, civil aviation authorities, meteorological offices, international organizations, as well as research specialists and university lecturers and students.
